Hummingbird Dreaming

To dance with hummingbirds would be nothing less than bliss! The Australian Aboriginal concept of Dreamtime, or "time out of time," is depicted on the wall of this 10-inch vase, where two carved faces  appear to float among a flock of hummingbirds. They are silhouetted against the deep blue on the inside of the vase, suggestive of the sky on a sunny day.

The themes of faces, hummingbirds, leaves and flowers renew themselves frequently in the EarthDances repertoire, perhaps because they are so easy to resonate with. Each recreation of this vase is unique: the faces may tilt slightly differently, and the birds and leaves will 'dance' a new choreography. The color of the inner glaze also changes, reflecting different times of day.
