Where a dancer's hands bring clay to life
Bud vases are the second smallest vases I create. They measure about 4.5 inches tall and are perfect to hold one or two small flowers, or a bud that falls from a larger flower arrangement. Like the mini vases, they add a delightful accent to any room of the home. In order to make the open, dancing shape, I carve into the vase before the clay dries, and stretch out the sides.
This yellow glaze is soft and subtle. It adds a gentle frame around the wildlife scene within, where a solitary hummingbird feasts on a cluster of flowers. Fully watertight, the vase can hold living flowers or remain empty and have the same whimsical impact.
